Six ways to big up your Easter long weekend.

Easter at home. As satisfying as a melty chocolate egg on your tongue.

Now that we’re not forced to stay home anymore, it’s the perfect time to choose to stay home. That’s what makes Easter one of the sweetest holidays to celebrate — not only because of the chocolate treats and hot-cross buns but because it gives us time to slow down and re-connect with loved ones, just as the working year is getting into full swing.

And do weird things around the house.

A four-day long weekend gives you just enough time to take care of that project you could never get through on a normal weekend. Or to get your head around a new skill. To entertain long into the evening, without the spectre of having to get up for work the next day. Or to embark on an extended binge-watching session that will blur the lines of reality.

Easter, sweet Easter. That magical time when the weather’s not too hot to get out and about, but not too chilly either. That glorious semi-week where clock-watching becomes a distant memory and rabbits really do lay eggs.

To make this Easter even more magical, we’ve put together some ideas to help you create the perfect home-sweet-home holiday or a domestic nest that would make any egg-laying bunny proud.

1. Fabulous family feasts.

Your family? Stuff them! With delicious food, that is. Gimmie’s range of fantastic big-brand appliances for your kitchen gives you so many choices for a new spin on family feasts. Choose a new oven, cooktop, rangehood, or any of our food processors, slow and pressure cookers, air fryers or a new microwave and get your Easter cooking! Plan some family meals and settle in a for feast-filled Easter

2. Feather your nest.

The lure of home renovation TV shows is strong. But the motivation to get those renos done is cancelled out by the pain it causes when you have to squeeze it into a day or two. Easter is the perfect time to get that refurbishing project done and dusted. To manage your budget, you can choose from a great range of new furniture and have the flexibility to pay it off over 1 or 2 years… everything from beds and mattresses and bedroom or lounge-room furniture, armchairs, sofas and occasional furniture, to getting the nursery ready or sorting out your home office for a WFH future.

3. The last skerrick of summer.

Hang on to that balmy Summer feeling with a last hoorah on the barbecue and live it up in the great Aussie backyard this Easter. Follow up the egg hunt with a traditional barbie for friends and family. Make it even more exciting with a new BBQ, or new BBQ accessories — to make sure you don’t torch the snags —and even a whole new outdoor furniture set from Gimmie.

4. Big nights in.

Staying home this Easter can be entertaining too, with some great, new, fun ideas for spicing up your nights indoors. You might choose to belt out the best of the 90s on your new karaoke and party speaker or plan the ultimate LAN party with a brand new gaming bundle. Maybe you’d prefer to take your entertainment set up to the next level with a brand new, BIG-screen smart TV, soundbar and entertainment unit to display all your awesome new equipment. However you choose to spend your Easter Break,  with Gimmie, it will be a good Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday!

5. Start snuggling up.

The mercury is starting to drop, so it’s a nice time to get ready for Winter and try out a new heater, or reverse-cycle air-conditioner as the nights get chilly. Pull out your biggest bunny rug and get your Easter snuggle on! And, if you fall asleep on the couch and wake up on a melted chocolate egg, you should have seen it coming!

6. Battle the bunny bulge.

Chocolate eggs, hot cross buns and other delicious indulgences can all take their toll on your waistline. So, what better way to enjoy yourself than to dive into some sweet Easter treats and then work them off on your new home fitness equipment? Battle the bunny bulge before it begins, with an exercise bike, treadmill, rower or cross-trainer. You could even try the old ‘chocolate egg on a stick’ motivational tool to spur yourself on!
