QLED stands for Quantum dot Light Emitting Diode which is essentially the same as the regular LED except, there is a layer of quantum dots. In your normal LED TV, a backlight produces the picture on the screen. With QLED, a backlight is used, but a quantum layer forms it to provide a clearer and vibrant picture.

All these different terms like OLED, QLED and LCD can make it confusing – there are a few differences you should know. OLED (organic light-emitting diode) TVs do not have this same backlight, and instead, each LED lights up on its own. QLED TVs are a lot more like your standard LCD TV, with a modern twist.

QLED uses quantum dots to create a quantum dot layer that produces stunning picture quality on-screen. A backlight provided by LEDs fire the light through the quantum dots, which then generate the image.

There are several different options when choosing a Samsung QLED television from Gimmie.

Other TV brands use quantum technology but don’t use the QLED name. They offer various sizes and slightly different qualities, such as higher brightness and contrast ratio.

8K resolution is the highest quality currently available on the market, and some may argue that the difference between 4K and 8K is negligible. That being said, if the price isn’t a problem, then this might be the fancy upgrade you’re looking for.

How does a QLED TV differ from LED LCD TVs?

They use quantum technology that increases the range of colours that can be displayed on the screen. Unlike OLED TVs, they do not use their own light.

What are quantum dots?

Essentially, they absorb the light from the LED backlight and produce a different colour which is then shown on screen.

Does Samsung’s quantum dot technology improve the brightness on screen?

Yes, quantum technology has been shown to increase the colour range and brightness of the picture displayed on the TV.

This enhances the viewing experience and allows for much more adjustments to suit your viewing needs.

Can QLED TVs burn-in if left on an image for long enough?

Samsungs QLED televisions have been certified as burn-in free – no need to worry about leaving your TV on for too long!

Do other brands apart from Samsung manufacture QLED TVs?

Samsung is the main brand that produces this type of television; however, there are some others. TCL is another brand that has its own QLED models, but Samsung actually owns this company.

Hisense and Vizio also have TVs that use the same quantum technology, but these brands do not use the QLED name in their products.
